One morning on my 2017 Labor Day Loop trip, I drove up north from my campsite at Wolf Camp, Keystone, South Dakota, to do I-don't-remember-what, and I was greeted by a huge bison nonchalantly eating some grass about 20 feet off the road. Good morning!

When I was 12 I read the book Life by the Numbers that talked about fractals in nature, and it was intoxicating to me. It taught me that patterns can be observed, noted, and used to make predictions in the natural world. Patterns reveal order in what seems like chaos. This gave a great deal of comfort to my young anxiety- and depression-riddled mind, and it still brings me comfort today. I paint and draw to reveal to the viewer the patterns I find.
