Now to the good stuff...
I live to discover patterns. When I was 12 I read the book Life by the Numbers that talked about fractals in nature, and it was intoxicating to me. It taught me that patterns can be observed, noted, and used to make predictions in the natural world. Patterns reveal order in what seems like chaos. This gave a great deal of comfort to my young anxiety- and depression-riddled mind, and it still brings me comfort today.
I paint and draw to reveal to the viewer the patterns I find. My paintings are designed to be a relief from chaos, drowning the cacophony of the viewer’s mind the way an amplified guitar drowns the crowd at a concert. My amplified colors and exaggerated outlines are a loud meditation, and I hope that when the viewer walks away, they walk away a truer, more peaceful version of themselves.
